ABOUT:

The Whirlaways Square Dance Club is an active modern Square and Round Dance Club located in San Diego's Northern County.

The Whirlaways are associate members of the Palomar Square Dance Association (PSDA) which promotes Square and Round dancing.

MISSION:

Our mission is to spread Square and Round dancing throughout Northern San Diego County.

We host Monthly Squares with Rounds Dances.

DESCRIPTION:

The Whirlaways are a Plus-level dance and social club. We currently hold dances the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Westminister Presbyterian Church at 1500 South Juniper St in Escondido, CA 92025.  We start each dance with Pre-Rounds at 7:15pm through 8:00pm.  The Square dancing then continues from 8:00pm to 10:00pm and currently include Mainstream and Plus level tips with Rounds in-between each tip.  If two squares of Advanced level dancers are present, the Senior Board member can decide to hold an Advanced level tip at the end of the evening at about 9:40pm. 

In an effort to bring new dancers into the activity, the Whirlaways provide Square Dance classes each Sunday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the 7 Oaks Community Center located at 16789 Bernardo Oaks Drive, San Diego CA. 92128.  Please see the flyer in the Class Info tab for updated information.  Each class will run for 13-14 weeks teaching a new program we call "Social Square Dancing".  Please find more information on SSD in the Class Info tab.  Later, in calendar year 2022, we will provide workshops to help students wishing to progress  to "Main Stream" and "Plus Level" dancing.  Lessons are open to anyone wishing to have a great time!!!

Occasionally, we will hold Round Dance classes upon request from our members.
